Payaswini is a river flowing from Karnataka to Kerala state in India. The river originates in the Koyinadu of Kodagu district situated on the Western ghats and meets the Arabian sea near Talangara in Kasaragod. It traverses 105 kilometers with a major part in Karnataka and among the other 14 rivers flowing in Kasaragod district, it is the longest river as far as the length of the river is concerned.
The name Payaswini has the meaning, the one who carries the holy nectar in the Sanskrit language. Other rivers of Kasaragod include Bekal, Chandragiri, Chithary, Kalanad, Kariyamkodu, Kumbala, Kuniyan, Manjeshwar, Mogral, Nileshwar, Perumba, Shiriya and Uppala rivers.
There is a lot of tradition, agriculture,culture, history and more than all that, lifestyle of people are interwoven with these rivers. Having been said about the rivers, we take the inspiration from the water flow and the life support from these rivers especially the Payaswini river integrates the Kannada and Malayalam cultures. Therefore, this site is carrying information on the culture and tradition, the languages and more than that the spurts of ideas on agriculture, science and environment.
